Bartek completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He continued his Biotechnology studies at Wageningen University & Research Centre in the Netherlands, where he obtained a master’s degree. His studies focused on the cellular and molecular aspects of biology, as well as synthetic biology and bioinformatics. Studying biotechnology allowed him to combine his passion for natural sciences with the potential for developing professional opportunities.

His research spanned across multiple fields within biotechnology. He researched gene expression patterns in plants, worked on plant-bacterial interactions, as well as constructed neural networks predicting outcomes of biological models. During his gap year he took part in studies done by the Institute of Plant Genetics at the Polish Academy of Sciences. His passion for research was redirected towards business when he participated in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition in 2023. Together with his team, he worked on a novel solution to prevent frost damage in fruit trees. Aside from research, he also communicated their project to the public and raised funds from sponsors.

While studying Bartek worked in several laboratories and biotechnology-related companies. He also spent a year teaching English, which allowed him to improve his soft skills.

Prior to joining Angels, he held a position in the Human Biological Materials procurement team at Roche in Penzberg, Germany, where he was responsible for reaching out to stakeholders and supporting contract negotiations. That role provided him with insight into the pharmaceutical and medical industry. Outside of his professional life, he has been a member of the Polish Scouting Association since 2016.

Bartek says: “Combining my newly acquired experience in the medical industry with my passion for communicating and helping people became a real opportunity when I applied for a position at the Angels Initiative. It allows me to further develop both my soft and technical skills and work towards a tangible goal, which is helping stroke patients. I hope to be able to improve stroke care in my home country and at the same time improve myself and my capabilities.”
