He currently serves as a Chairmen of Executive Committee of the Cerebrovascular Board of Czech Neurological Society. Dr. Tomek works as a chief of the cerebrovascular program and deputy director of the Neurology Department, 2nd Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Dr. Tomek is also a fellow of the European Stroke Organisation.

Dr. Tomek received his MD in 1998 at Charles University, he then completed his neurology board exams in 2001 and 2004. In 2014 he completed PhD with thesis "Pharmacogenetics of warfarin".

His research interests include cerebrovascular neurology, clinical and research applications of personalized medicine in stroke patients (specifically, the pharmacogenetics of vitamin K antagonists, acetylsalicylic acid, thienopyridines and novel oral anticoagulants) and neurocritical care in acute stroke.

Dr. Tomek has authored over 50 research papers, over 300 congress presentations, 8 book chapters and two monographs as principal editor. He has been a co-investigator in over 15 clinical trials and in 8 research grant projects.
